The history of Asia can be seen as the collective history of several distinct peripheral coastal . founded by Cyrus the Great, ruled an area from Greece and Turkey to the Indus River and Central Asia during the 6th to 4th centuries BCE.

Description:It was recaptured by the Dutch in , but was returned again a year later, this time permanently. Often "carriages, utensils, sacrificial vessels, [and] weapons" would be included in the tomb. The settlements were isolated, difficult to reinforce if attacked, and prone to being picked off one by one, but nevertheless the Dutch only enjoyed mixed success in its attempts to do so. The long-distance trade linking East Asia and India to Western Europe increasingly began to move over the seas and not through Central Asia. The last steppe empire to emerge was that of the Dzungars who conquered much of East Turkestan and Mongolia. These sites served as models followed by other provinces throughout the empire. The Hephthalites were the most powerful of these nomad groups in the 6th and 7th century and controlled much of the region.
